The importance of positivity in all aspects of life.
Are you living the best life you can?
Life is a precious gift that we often take for granted. Time quickly flies by while we are busy doing other things and before we know it we have a long list of regrets and memories that mean nothing. .
We miss moments of laughter while we are busy being sad. We miss moments of love while we are busy being angry. We miss moments that are meant to open our minds while we are thinking about other things. We miss living while we are busy deciding how we want to live.
Life is chaos, that is a fact. There are things that can not be avoided, responsibilities we must take on, but just because you are busy doing other things does not mean you must miss the moments that are meant to enhance and empower you.
You can have your cake and eat it too, you only have to give life your best effort.
No matter the situation you are in there is going to be positive points you can focus on, in order to live your best life you need to learn to create an attitude of positivity and train your mind to seek these positive factors in every thing you do.
Living your best life is not about luxury, it is about lifestyle, positive lifestyle to be exact, and it is easy to achieve once you set your mind to it.
Every one of us has been in a situation that has made us uncomfortable. We have all had to do something we didn’t want to do, and what’s worse is many of us have focused on the negativity and dislike longer than we should have.
For example: Perhaps you had to miss a friends birthday in order to attend a business meeting out-of-town. Chances are you felt sad, blah and maybe even resentful. After the meeting you might slump back to your hotel to wallow because the negative thoughts of missing your friend’s birthday have created a negative mood overall and may have even (UNKNOWINGLY) affected your performance at your work function. Is this living the best life you can? Hopefully you answered no. What could you have done differently?
Well for starters, you could get-over-it! If you are that upset about missing your friend’s birthday chances are it is a very dear friend, and since it is a dear friend, chances are they will understand that you have to miss their birthday. Since they understand you have to miss their birthday you will be able to make up for it with a private celebration at a later time, or before your business trip, thus avoiding all the negative thinking in the first place. BUT… If you didn’t consider this before your meeting you can still switch up your mood and make the best of the situation. Instead of slumping back to you hotel room take the time in a new place to explore and learn about new culture. Even if it is just a town over from your home, you can often learn many things while on a trip and may even meet some great new friends.
The point of the situation above is to show you that to live your best life you need to make the best out of the life you have.
Dreams and goals are wonderful tools to have, but the best tool you can give yourself is to live positively in the moment.
Below are a few helpful tips for finding the positive side of any situation:
- Focus on your thoughts. – We have all heard this one before, but it is SO true. If you really want to live the best life possible you must be aware of what you are thinking. It is not as easy as it sounds, so practice taking a moment to stop and simply hear your thoughts regularly throughout the day.
- Turn a negative into a positive. – Here is another common piece of advice that is very important. While you are taking time to monitor your thoughts turn each negative thought into a positive one. For example: These jeans look too small = I can go shopping!
(or any other thought that makes you feel good) This can be applied to any form of negative thinking, which is not always so clear to see, focus on how the thought make you ‘feel’ as well as what it is saying, and if in doubt turn it around!! - Don’t allow your emotions to feel off others. – Being around others that are negative can be a very difficult thing, and it can easily bring you down. If you can not simply avoid negative people than you can try doing two things. a) Spread the positivity – turn each negative thing they say into a positive one. Do this out loud, if you are comfortable, by simply responding to, or repeating, what they say in a more positive way. b) Focus on what you like about this person. – By taking a moment to pick out things you ‘like’ about a negative person you help to create more patience towards them and help filter out their negative attitude. If you find being around a certain person makes you feel down no matter what you do, try to stay away from them as much as possible and be extra positive when you have to be. Enlist the help of a positive friend if you can, two positives are more likely to outweigh a negative.
- Make a list. – Making lists helps to put things into perspective. Make a list of all the things you want to change, all the areas of your life that could use more positivity and all the personal goals you hope to accomplish. Keep your wording positive, and ask for help if you are stuck. Family and friends are good sources of information, just remember to take everything they say in a positive way.
- Practice Positivity. – Positive living does not happen overnight. It is a lifestyle, like dieting, that takes constant concentration and effort. Be sure that you are consciously focusing on the positive side of a situation and practice regularly turning things into more positive options. Even in positive situations look for ways they can become even more positive. Be open to better, happier and more. Expect these things. Live in the moment and go with the flow, if you find yourself in an unpleasant place, change it. There is always a way to turn a negative into a positive, it is simply up to you to create the way.
Life is a precious gift, stop taking it for granted. Forget about having more, and start creating more. Material things are not going to help you live your best life, your attitude is what makes life great, so take time to tune into and invest in the one thing that can make your life amazing without breaking the bank. The effort it takes initially is worth it in the end and over time it becomes a habit, just as negative thinking once did. Seeking inspiration in children who see only the ‘now’ and only the great things that ‘now’ has to offer, trusting that everything else in life will simply work out!
Until Next Time…

So You’ve Had a Bad Day… Staying Positive Despite Daily Life.
Life is tough. That’s a fact we can all agree with. Each day we are faced with challenges that test our personal strength, both physically and emotionally. Daily life can cause frustration and take a toll on our ability to live a positive lifestyle. Throw in a major crisisand you may quickly lose all faith in life itself. Although life is tough, it doesn’t have to break you down. Below are a few tips that can help you to keep positive
despite the stress of daily life or even a major crisis.
Tips to Help You Stay Positive During Stressful Times:
- Remember, Everything Happens For a Reason – We have all heard these words a million times, and chances are they have been of little comfort in the center of a crisis, but as frustrating as it can be to accept, these words are true. It is not about religion or a higher power, it is not meant to preach or encourage you to pray, it is simply a fact of life that when something happens it leads to something else happening as well. Every action has a reaction, so take peace in knowing that even the worst moments have a purpose in your life and are there to help you learn, grow and move forward.
- Be Childish – No, I am not telling you to stick out your tongue or take your toys and leave, I am referring to a child’s imagination. When you are faced with a stressful moment or a difficult person it is often helpful to take a mini-mental break. Take a deep breath and allow your mind to conjure up a positive and relaxing, or even humorous, image. This may be a warm sandy beach, a cozy cottage, a childhood memory, or the difficult person in their underwear. No matter what image you use take a second to enjoy it and feel it before you act or react. With practice, which I suggest you do before escaping into this image for extended lengths in front of someone, you will only need a split second to lower your stress level and calm your reaction. If you don’t have an over active imagination or you simply want some help using mental images for relaxation there are many sites online that can teach you about mental imageryor
full-out meditation, practice it now and save yourself some negative energy later. - Stay Overly Aware of Your Own Thoughts – When we are faced with stress, whether it is simple daily stress or a major crisis, our minds and thoughts can easily be neglected and our thoughts can quickly slip to the negative side of the tracks. During stressful times be sure you pay extra attention to the thoughts that are flowing through your mind and the energy you are sending out to the world. Find positive things in the moment and purposefully place positive thoughts inside your mind regularly.
- Don’t be a Hater – People are annoying, this is just another fact of life that we all must learn to deal with, but even when someone has your frustrated, irritated or outright mad try to refrain from thinking ill of them. Negative thinking in any form has an impact on your mood, even negative thoughts directed towards others change our overall energy, so even when you are upset with a person try to find something positive about them and focus on that. This method will not only help you stay positive, it will also help you to better deal with the annoying person. When we look at people from a different angle we often see things we did not notice before, and what better angle than a positive one?
- Tune Out – Music can have a wonderful impact on our mood and soul. When you are faced with stress try tuning out by tuning in to your favorite music. Create a playlist of all your happiest, most positive feeling songs and turn them up, loud. Dance around if it makes you feel good, or sing at the top of your lungs. Whatever makes you happy goes.
- Let It Shine – Your pearly whites that is. It might seem simple but the truth is that it is very difficult to feel bad when you are smiling. There is just something about a big smile that boosts the soul, so next time you start to feel blah plaster on a smile and wear it around. Even if the smile doesn’t lift your spirits the people around you will because they will either feed of your positive energy, or look at you like your crazy. Either way it will brighten your day.
- Trust Your Gut - When you are really stressed out, frustrated or faced with a big decision it is always best to follow your gut instincts. If something feels wrong it probably is, and if your heart and soul won’t stop telling you it’s right you should really listen. It is even important that you follow your instinct to take time out, sometimes are instincts are a way of telling us our bodies can’t take anymore and need a break. Trust yourself and do what feels right for you.
- Let It Go – When I say let it go I am not only referring to the stress, which you should release and trust that there is a solution or end in sight, but your emotions as well. If you need to cry, cry. If you want to scream, scream. Bottling up your emotions is unhealthy, both physically and mentally so let your feelings show and move on once you are done. There is nothing wrong with feeling sad, angry or hurt etc.. The key is to feel these things and then move on to the positive things that life has to offer.
These items listed above are obviously not guaranteed to make you feel better during troubled times, but I hope that they might help you to get back on the path of positivity because when you are focused on the positive things in life the bad stuff seems to work out a lot faster and with far less effort.
How do you deal with stress and still stay positive?

Just For Now… An Update
I owe you all an apology, I have neglected this site a great deal since the start of this year and I feel awful. I have not
accomplished any of the things I had hoped I would by now, but I will, soon.
I am a bit behind. I admit that. My letting go series is only partially complete, something I had hoped to finish before the start of this year, but it will be finished, soon.
I apologize, 2012 has proven to be a chaotic year already and has kept me on my toes so far. This blog is not the only thing I have neglected, so don’t take it personally, there are a great deal of things that have not been getting the attention they deserve, but as I said they will, soon.
For now all I can tell you is that I am ‘working on it’ and in the mean time I will post as I can, and try to keep you inspired as often as possible. Feel free to send in submissions of your own if you like, it is always great to see inspiring stories, ideas and articles from others, and also be sure to check out the Facebook page for regular inspiration as well. You can get to the Facebook Page by clicking HERE
Again my apologies and we will be back at it all very soon, stay tuned for some lighter posts in the next few days as I try to complete the ‘letting go’ series. In the mean time I will leave you with a few positive thoughts:
Positive Thoughts To Remember, Always:
- Each and every day is a chance to start fresh, yesterday is the past, this is the key to your future.
- You are EXACTLY where you need to be, right now.
- Happiness is a choice, it is not created by a place, person or object, it is a state of mind. Choose happiness today.
- Even when it seems everything is going wrong, it is going right. Just as it should be.
- There is never a moment when you are not loved. When you feel alone or lonely close your eyes and feel the world around you, each and every person you meet, place you go and thing you see is a part of you, is a part of your life, is a piece of love created just for you. When you feel alone and lonely know within your soul that there are millions of us right here with you sharing your love.
- Nothing in life is permanent, unless you choose to dwell on it and make it so.
- You control your life.
Until Next Time,
Be Strong and Live Positively.

Growing Through Gratitude

If you truly aspire to attract more positive things into your life, the best thing you can do is show your gratitude for the people and things in your life on a regular basis.
What makes gratitude so important?
Gratitude, appreciation and love are positive feelings. They send out a positive message (or vibration for those of you who follow the Law of Attraction) and they simply make you, and others, feel good.
Living a life where you are openly grateful for the things around you leads to more things to be grateful for. The more positive thoughts you think, the more positive thoughts you think, and so on… The cycle repeats itself.
Adding conscious gratitude to your life does not have to be difficult, but the benefits are great. Gratitude is a simple act that you can do daily with little to no effort on your part. One way I work gratitude in to my daily routine is by thinking of something I can appreciate first thing every morning. As I open my eyes in the morning I think of one thing that I can be thankful for that day, this gets my day started on a positive note and allows me to rise happy and prepared for the day ahead.
Another great tool for living life with appreciation is a journal. A gratitude journal (or appreciation journal) is a wonderful way for you to keep track of all the things you have to be thankful for in life. Taking 5 minutes a day to jot down even 5 things you are thankful for is a great way to remind yourself of all the amazing things you have in your life. Also, by keeping a journal of all the things you are thankful for, you will be able to look back on them when you are feeling down, stressed or during moments when negative thoughts are creeping into your mind. Your journal does not have to be anything fancy, a basic notebook or file on your computer will do just fine, the point is to get yourself thinking about the positive things in your life, instead of focusing on the negative ones.
Try it out right now, list 5 things you are grateful for at this moment… (Feel free to list them in the comment section if you like)
Thinking about the things you are thankful for in life helps to immediately lift your mood, at least slightly, and doing this daily (especially at the start or end of the day, or both, if possible) will improve your mood permanently over time. Not only will it improve your mood, it will also improve the mood of those closest to you, it will attract more positive people and things into your life, and it will make you more relaxed overall.
Gratitude is a powerful thing, and should be used to your advantage as much as possible. Every day we see stories that conjure up negative thoughts, feelings and reactions. The news broadcasts of horrible violence, war and suffering throughout the world and close to home. Movies and television portray negative relationships, actions and emotions, and we ourselves often focus on things in our lives that are going wrong. Gratitude will help cancel out a large amount of the negativity we deal with each day and will bring your mind back to the positive side of life where it will benefit you most.
Make the choice today to bring more positivity into your life, and to be more thankful for all that you are blessed with. This small action can not hurt, and can only add to your life… You’ve got nothing to lose, so what are you waiting for?
Until Next Time…
Be Thankful!

Imperfection is a Negative Obsession
Many people spend their lives in a losing battle obsessing about the way things ‘should be,’ instead of rejoicing and enjoying the way
things are. When we are focused on ‘fixing’ things, we can not truly be at peace with ourselves or be thankful for all that we have in life.
Focusing on fixing something is sending the message that we are dissatisfied with our life, discontent with our surroundings. It implies negativity, and as we covered in the previous post, negativity breeds more negativity.
Whether we are focused on something we dislike about ourselves such as, our image, job, home or lifestyle; or focused on something we don’t like about others such as, their attitude, appearance, or way of living. Focusing on imperfections in a negative obsession that will bring you down.
This is not to say that there will not be ‘better’ ways of doing things, or that you should not strive to do your best and have your life the way you want it, the point is simply to find ways to be content with the way things are right now. Whether you are obsessed with losing ten pounds, getting a better job, having a more organized household or being closer with your partner, don’t focus on the things you need/want to ‘fix,’ but rather on all the things that are right, right now.
Shifting focus away from imperfections can be a very difficult thing to achieve, and can take a great deal of time and practice. Each time you catch yourself thinking of the way things ‘should be‘ remind yourself of what you are content with at the moment. Doing this often enough will help you to create a routine, and once a routine is set it becomes automatic. In no time at all you will find your focus is more positive and that the little things that needed fixing have either fixed themselves, or didn’t actually need fixing at all.
Until Next Time…
Enjoy the Little Things.

The Importance of Positivity
Millions of people world-wide purchased and read the book ‘The Secret’ by Rhonda Byrne.’ The main point of this best-selling self-help book is that the universe is governed by a natural law called ‘The Law of Attraction.’ To put it briefly the law of attraction states: whatever you focus on most will create a frequency and attract back to your life what you are sending out. The book itself states that it doesn’t matter whether what you are thinking about is positive or negative, the universe sees only that you are focusing on that feeling, emotion or thing and sends you more of it. With this theory you must consider the way you think, if you are constantly thinking about how you never have enough money, you will attract back the same issue of never having enough money. If instead you were to change your thought pattern and think more about the positive associations attached to the money you do have, you will attract back more positive things.
The theory is simple, whatever you think you create in your life. It is the age-old theory that ‘everything happens for a reason‘ and if you haven’t yet, I suggest you read ‘The Secret‘ or one of the many other books about the Law of Attraction. There is an abundance of information available online as well and is worth the research and review.
Whether you are a believer of the theory of the Law of Attraction or not, the basics are an important part of everyday life. We all know (usually through experience) that negativity breeds negativity. Positivity is important in all aspects of life for many different reasons. You may not have the desire to attract riches, relationships, or success, fortune and fame, but having a positive attitude, being aware of your thoughts, and being a positive person in general, is a great way to improve your well-being and the overall quality of your life.
What makes positivity so important?
A positive attitude is important for a great many reasons. Having a positive attitude helps you cope more easily with the responsibilities of everyday life and helps to relieve stress and strengthen personal relationships. A positive attitude will help you to avoid worrying unnecessarily and will enhance your physical and mental well-being.
We have all had to deal with a ‘Negative Nelly‘ at one time or another throughout our lives. A Negative Nelly is that person who is always full of complaints and is never satisfied with anything that happens in their life. If you have ever been around a ‘Negative Nelly‘ for an extended period of time you know how draining this type of person can be and effect they can have on your own level of positivity. Negativity is exhausting, it takes a ton of effort and it doesn’t do one bit of good for anyone.
Having a positive attitude is actually quite easy to achieve. It consists mainly of being aware of your thoughts, actions and reactions and making the choice to do what makes you feel good. Even with its simplicity, the benefits of being positive are endless.
Benefits of Positivity:
- A positive attitude helps you to achieve your goals.
- It strengthens personal relationships and makes people more comfortable around you.
- Positivity creates a greater level of happiness and a more fulfilling life.
- Positive thinking and a positive attitude will give you more physical and mental energy.
- Positivity will give you inner strength.
- Being positive will help you inspire others and yourself.
- Positivity helps to lower stress levels and makes difficult situations easier to handle.
- A positive attitude will help you gain the respect of co-workers, friends, family and strangers.
These are only a few of the endless benefits of being positive and having a positive attitude, there are too many to list them all. The truth is that having a positive attitude and living in a positive way can change your entire life. I bet you are wondering exactly how one gains a positive attitude and lives a positive life? The answer is simple, by choice…
How to be more Positive:
- Make a choice – Happiness is not a place, object, or situation, it is a state of mind and it is a choice you make for yourself.
- See the lessons in every situation – By seeing the bright side of every situation and taking each moment as a lesson learned you will greatly improve your positive outlook and avoid a great deal of stress. There is silver lining in every single cloud, seek it out.
- Look for the little things – Each and everyday look for something that will make you smile. There are a million little things in life that will easily put a smile on your face or remind you that you have much to be grateful for. Find a few of these things each day and take the time to appreciate them, even if just for a moment.
- Demolish doubt – Doubt, in any form, is a negative emotion. Erase doubt by keeping faith in yourself, and the world, and by knowing that everything happens for a reason. Each time you catch yourself doubting something turn that doubt into a positive thought and remind yourself that even the worst situations provide a lesson to be learned.
- Practice positivity – Negative thinking is something that is learned over time, it is a bad habit, just like smoking or biting your nails. The only way to truly rid yourself of this habit is to practice and be persistent, you can do this by paying attention to your thoughts, correcting negative reactions, and finding things to be thankful for each day. (I will get into this in more detail over time and help you to find ways to harness your positivity on a more conscious level.)
- Follow a lead – Role models and mentors are used for many different roles in life. Finding someone to model your career, home, style and family around can be very inspiring and help you o learn a great deal. Find someone positive that you admire and follow their lead. Having a role model, or even the support of a positive friend can be helpful in keeping you positive. There is nothing wrong with asking for help and having a good support system is part of living a positive life. It is also important to surround yourself with positive people if you hope to be more positive yourself. I spoke earlier about the ‘Negative Nelly’s’ of the world and how draining they can be, people like this can test (and sometimes even destroy) all of the hard work you have spent moving towards positive living. It is important that you distance yourself from these ‘negative’ type people as much as possible, and if you can not distance yourself (say they are your partner, parent or child) then you must work hard to learn how to deal with them without becoming negative yourself. (Again, this is something we will look at more in-depth in future posts)
- Educate yourself – Read, watch and research as much as you can about the benefits of positivity and ways you can incorporate it into your life. The more you know the more likely you are to utilize this knowledge. The internet, the library and even magazines are great sources of information, with the popularity and interest in the Law of Attraction since the release of The Secret articles and information about the benefits of positive living are readily available and easy to access.
- Get inspired – Quotes, Stories and Photos are a great way to inspire yourself to achieve your goals and keep a positive outlook on life. I will be posting some inspiring quotes on this site in the near future, but in the meantime take a moment to seek out things that inspire you and look at them regularly to remind yourself who you want to be, and what you hope to achieve. Inspiration can come in any form and does not have to be a story, photo or quote, perhaps you would be inspired writing your own thoughts, quotes or stories. Maybe a short walk, or a relaxing moment in a favorite place is what will inspire you. It doesn’t matter how you get inspired, the main point of finding this inspiration is to help you relax and remember all the good things that life has to offer.
- Associate affirmations – Some people enjoy using affirmations to promote positivity. Affirmations are simply a declaration of something that is true. People use affirmations by either speaking them aloud, writing them down or posting them where they will be seen regularly to remind themselves of the positive things in their life. Some examples of positive affirmations include; I rejoice in the love I encounter everyday, When I believe in myself so do others, I am perfect just the way I am, I am at peace, I trust that everything will be just fine. Some people use affirmations that confirm the goal they are aiming to achieve, and many do this by acting as if they have already achieved this goal. For example: I am the ideal weight for me, I attract only healthy relationships, I am successful in my career, etc… I choose to use generalized affirmations that state facts for the moment or leave room to grow, but it is all about personal preference. Affirmations are a great way to remind yourself what you are aiming to achieve and that which you have already accomplished. They are also useful in pointing out the little positives that are always around us in our lives.
- Master meditation – I am not one to sit down in silence for long periods of time and so meditation comes to me in a different form than some, but I do make a point of taking time to just be. Meditation is about enjoying the silence and letting go of the burdens of the day, you can do this in any place, at any time, in any way you feel comfortable. Research meditation online for useful tips, helpful instructions, or tools that can help you to relax. Otherwise another option is simply just to find a quiet place and let your mind, body and soul relax clearing your mind of any clutter and focusing simply on being at peace.
There are literally hundreds of ways to incorporate positivity into your daily life, and those listed above are just a few simple suggestions. No one is expected to do all of these things, all of the time, but taking the time to do what you can will make a huge difference in your overall level of positivity. As I said before, we will go more in-depth into these things as time goes on, this is just an overview of how simple living a positive life can truly be and how even simple actions on your part can have a huge impact on the world around you. I suggest you do a little research, and of course subscribe here for future posts. If you want to improve your life there is no better way than adopting a positive attitude.
